I’m still working on a legit blog post; my first draft is called “the green line’s race to the bottom”. However, this isn’t that.
I was just trying to relax on the couch, watching the Bruins game tonight when I get a text saying the aurora borealis is visible from my area with the naked eye. My mother promptly called with a similar observation while out walking the dog.
I jumped up, threw on a pair of sandals (iconic fashion for mid-October in 50 degree weather), grabbed my DSLR, and hopped on my electric scooter to get to a better observation point in my neighborhood. Then I began taking some hastily arranged photos on my DSLR and my iPhone. I took the scooter back up to get my tripod.
Here’s just a few from my initial gathering.

nature is incredible sometimes. let’s protect it together.
I just wish I were in/closer to Boston for this so I could get some shots with the city (as much as the light pollution there would have allowed).
I’ve never seen the aurora with the naked eye; I saw the aurora once before recently though my phone camera at North Billerica train station. But that was faint (pictured below), VERY faint. You can see some wispiness but that’s it.

This was different. This was magical.
